Montclair Pet Mayor Contest

The Montclair Pet & Wildlife Fund's most popular fund-raising event is the Montclair Pet Mayor Contest. Starting in 2004, the Montclair Village Association and the Montclair Veterinary Hospital joined forces to elect a Pet Mayor for Montclair Village. Local businesses sponsor pet candidates and provide polling places on their premises. If you fancy your pet in high office, all you need is a business sponsor that is a member of the Montclair Village Association. For more information, contact .

Voting for Pet Mayor

Every dollar buys you a vote, and you may vote as much and as often as you like. Unlike conventional elections, we encourage you to stuff the ballot box with many votes for your favorite candidate. Sponsoring businesses provide polls for their own candidates. There are also ballots and open polls available on Sunday's at the Montclair Farmer's Market and every day at the Montclair Veterinary Hospital.

Vote early and vote often! All proceeds go to the Pet & Wildlife Fund, and your "votes" are tax-deductible.

What It Means to be Mayor

The Pet Mayor of Montclair serves as an ambassador of goodwill to all creatures in the community: two-legged, four-legged, furred, feathered and scaled. In addition to media attention and the chance to appear in public on behalf of the Pet & Wildlife Fund, the winning pet gets a $100 gift certificate for veterinary care at Montclair Vet Hospital. The elected Pet Mayor also receives pet food and pet services donated by our vendors.

The Montclair Pet Mayor Contest in the News

Several local news outlets cover the race and give sponsoring businesses positive exposure in the community. We sincerely thank each one of the newspaper and radio media that offers support and coverage to our Pet Mayor candidates.

And the Winner Is ...

Every animal is a winner in this race, but that doesn't stop the pets, their owners and their sponsors from fighting tooth-and-nail for the top position as Pet Mayor of Montclair. All candidates are eligible to participate each year they are sponsored by a Montclair business.

Your Pet Could Be Mayor!

Don't miss out on the fun! If you would like to see your pet in high office, all you need is a Montclair Village Association business as a sponsor. If you run a business in Montclair, start looking around for a winning candidate. Elections are held annually in May and June, with nominations in April.
